Stoked Again
Maria was stoked to spend time with the man dubbed ‘the happiest man in the world’, renowned Buddhist Monk - Matthieu Ricard. Maria was in Nepal to meet with Roots and Shoots co-ordinators (from the Jane Goodall lnstitute), and to establish relationships with groups and co-operatives with a view to support conservation and humanitarian efforts in the region.
Climate Friendly Splendour...
Jess (from climate friendly) said that the response to Fully Stoked was fantastic! My favourite was this older kinda
rough-looking bloke who came back for your stickers 3 times! On the third time he
said, "so do these lot make a decent thruster (meaning surfboard)?". After
explaining that Fully Stoked didn't make surfboards, we got to talking about what
you guys are all about, his response was '...oh y'know, I don't really go for all that,
but the way that sounds is great, y'know fair go for everyone - tell 'em good on
'em for me and I'll make sure the wife gets some shirts for the kids. Orright if I
grab another sticker?"
So it was a really great day, I was lucky enough to see the incredible Clair Bowditch
play on stage. Finally, I hope you don't mind but I absolutely fell in love with the dear&dear tshirt and kept it for myself,
and have hardly taken it off since Monday.
Already we have had a great response from Splendour in the Grass festival goers,
organisers and artists and are proud to pass on their thanks and compliments on to
you. more....

Hugh supports fully stoked... Hugh Jackman and his wife Deborra-Lee Furness have offered to help promote
Fully Stoked.
John Palermo - Hugh's good friend and partner in his new company Seed Productions - organised for Maria and Hugh
to meet recently in Sydney. Hugh was impressed by Maria's passion and vision and is keen to help however
he
can. Lots of possibilites for involvement were discussed and we're all really excited about what's in store.
Will keep you posted...
Dr Jane Goodall PhD DBE... We have just had the great pleasure of hosting Jane for a few days during her Australian tour. This was an absolute dream come true, with Jane's work being the inspiration behind Maria's (founder/director) efforts in chimpanzee conservation in Uganda, and everything that has followed with the fully stoked company. Jane visited Australia to share her message of hope and promote the programs and mission of the Jane Goodall Institute, in particular the global youth program Roots and Shoots.
100% profits from the sale of Jane Goodall / Roots and Shoots t-shirts will be donated to Dr Goodall's Roots and Shoots program in Australia. The t-shirts are available in our new online shop. Support Roots and Shoots
fully soaped @ fully stoked! Check out these great new soaps and shampoos that are totally PALM OIL FREE.
Palm-oil farming, especially in Indonesia and Sumatra, is heavily contributing to the destruction of the last of the World's rainforests, and the habitats of orang-utans, tigers, and countless other endangered species. The forests are clearfelled and burned to plant oil palm, which provide a quick and plentiful cash crop which is used in icecream, cakes, biscuits, pies, soaps, shampoos, cosmetics, breads and hundreds of other common products. Start asking for PALM OIL FREE!!
The soaps and shampoos are also made in Australia from 100% ORGANIC ingredients. Click here for more info.
This is just fantastic! Those of you who watch big brother will remember Claire Madden, the conservationist/big cat keeper from last years series. We're working on a project with Claire to raise money and awareness about forest destruction that is due - once again - to the palm oil industry.
We'll soon be selling shirts to raise money for some of the projects Claire visited while filming in Borneo recently. You can visit claire @ www.zoogirlclaire.com
Vegan friendly... we were so pleased to be told that our clothing manufacturer has recently won an award for having "the best vegan-friendly clothing and accessories'. The stamp of approval came from PETA (people for the ethical treatment of animals). We're often asked if we are 'cruelty-free' and 'vegan-friendly' so it's great to have this endorsement from such a reputable organisation. May 2007
New Little Birdy Merchandise from Fully Stoked... The band say that they've put heaps of thought and love into the merchandise for their current tour... Apparently they're thrilled that they've been able to source "..some very cool t-shirts and trackie tops.. finding the best quality they could... The t-shirts are the nicest cotton, best sizing, and are certified sweat-shop free". The band and their management are really happy that every sale helps support conservation efforts, and have been really supportive of the fully stoked concept. THANKS!! This type of endorsement is fantastic for us. It speaks volumes for the quality of our clothing, and shows that people are really willing to get behind what we're trying to do. We haven't seen the gear with the little birdy designs on them yet, but apparently they look fantastic.
News from Deb... Deb did some sums for us and worked out that in Uganda, it costs around $20 a year to protect one chimp and their habitat. Not much hey!!! At the moment $4000 a year is needed to care for every chimp that's ended up at the sanctuary! It would (obviously) be so much better if we could make sure they're not taken from the forest in the first place!!! $4000 a year - 200 chimps and the forest are protected - and our part in all that - only 800 t-shirts!!!! If you want to help - go to the shops page and select 'chimp projects' when you're asked where you want the donation from your purchase to go.
Chimps - interesting facts - frightening stats ... 5000 chimpanzees are killed each year for the bushmeat trade. For every infant that ends up in a sanctuary in Africa, 10 youngsters have died. The mother would also have been killed - as she will never abandon her infant - so that altogether 20 individuals have been lost. The hunting problem is getting worse all the time - especially in Congo where logging companies are going deeper and deeper into the forest, and taking the hunters with them (please only buy plantation timber!!!!). Many researchers and conservationists believe that based on current rates of hunting and habitat loss, chimpanzees will disappear from the wild in the next 10-20 years.
